WWII: Britain: A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) fire fighters.Nearly all of the aged actors now living in retirement at Denville Hall, Northwood, are enthusiastic members of the fire watching parties which patrol the grounds of the home. They insist that their age is no handicap, and sound the alarm, if necessary, by means of a 'thunder sheet' erected by their post. The picture shows members of the party on duty in the watch room: L-R: Victor Yorke, 87, Wilton Reed, 78, G. Cooke, 68, Mr Ridnehall, Mr Taylor, and Brooke Warren, 74. Crocodile Escapes From Private Menagerie: Mrs. Margaret Ive, wife of the Landlord of the ''Six Bells'' Public House at Ruislip, Middlesex - has a private managerie in the garden of her home. The managerie includes a monkey - five tortoises - a Yorkshire terrier - and two cats - plus - six months old ''Clara'' - a tiny Crocodile. Yesterday Clara vanished - and a minor sensation was created in the area. Police were called in to search for her in the woods around the home - and bathers at the Ruislip Lido were warned with the notice ''Danger'' - ''Crocodile at Large''. She was finally tracked down to a water filled ditch - ten yards from her home. Clara looks very ferocious close-up - but she is only very very tiny - really.
